Who works at Making Training Work
Making Training Work has a small staff team consisting of trainers, consultants, researchers and project managers and makes use of freelance trainers for specialist training sessions.
Ann Janssen MA
Ann is an education and training professional with over 25 years experience in the post-16 sector. Since the establishment of Making Training Work she has successfully devised and managed innovative language, literacy and vocational programmes, has delivered accredited teacher training courses and contributed to evaluations and research projects at a local and national level. Ann, who is an additional inspector, has successfully supported colleges, adult and community learning and DWP/JCP providers to prepare for inspection. She also works for a number of government funded agencies on quality improvement initiatives. Ann has the ability to work in English, French and Flemish.
Monica Collingham MA
Monica has worked in English language and teacher training in adult and further education for over 25 years, in both the UK and abroad. As a manager of ESOL and basic skills provision she has designed and delivered programmes for learners in the workplace, and has developed methods for embedding language and literacy in vocational programmes. Monica has worked as a consultant advising on, and evaluating, the quality of teaching and learning within Skills for Life programmes.
Akgul Baylav PhD
Akgul has a special interest in bilingual communication, particularly in health and social care settings where she has considerable experience of managing and developing relevant services in hospital, community and primary care settings. As a trainer, she initiated, developed and conducted the first ever bilingual health advocacy course in 1990 and, more recently, the first bilingual mental health advocacy course.
