Making Training Work works with NIACE on a project to embed ESOL in the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualifications at level 2 and 3.
To date Making Training Work has drafted a syllabus and some sample lesson plans for the level 2 qualifications. This work was so well received by AAT that negotiations are now taking place with a view to producing ESOL materials to support the AAT qualifications at level 2 and 3. It is envisaged that these materials could support learners in developing the English language skills and knowledge that they will require in order to complete their AAT assessment tasks satisfactorily.
“The training courses appear to have had a significant impact on the professional practice of staff. There is evidence of increased confidence in identifying Skills for Life needs, in signposting enquirers to learning opportunities, in selecting and displaying stock and in the development of links with outside organisations.” - Judith Gawn, NIACE.
