Making Training Work establishes working links with London Museums.
“I really enjoyed the atmosphere, it was buzzing with activities, time just flew…Everything worked perfectly.” - Interpreting trainee.
Arising from the contacts made with museum staff on the MLA programme, good links have been developed with several London Museums. This has resulted in learners on the LDA funded “Use your languages for the future of London” project being offered work-shadowing placements at HMS Belfast, The Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms, the Museum of Docklands, and All Hallows by the Tower. Every learner fed back how much they had learnt from this experience, how it had developed their confidence and widened their aspirations. Feedback from museums has been extremely positive. For them this is a good way of making links with members of London’s local communities who are not necessarily familiar with London’s many museums.
